India’s rigorous lockdown to halt the spread of coronavirus meant that most factories and companies shut down, rendering thousands and thousands jobless.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to organizations to maintain paying out their workers, including each day-wage labourers.
But that didn’t come about, and most of the staff had been still left with minor dollars and foodstuff.
With no prospect of income, they took extended journeys to go again to their villages. Some managed to get transportation, but all those who could not, walked hundreds of miles.
And some of them never made it home as they died mainly because of exhaustion or in accidents.
