Field insiders say the deficiency of remark or condemnation by some of the industry’s biggest names points to a broad cultural difference from Hollywood – in which actors frequently just take up political causes and criticise the govt.

“In America, [President Donald] Trump cannot use the govt equipment to go soon after actors who disagree with him, but right here, that concern is extremely much there,” film critic and journalist Rajeev Masand informed Reuters.

Modi has frequently appeared along with actors and film marketplace figures at general public occasions. The marketplace has, in flip, produced films that some critics have reported approached political endorsements.

3 videos have appeared this year with lead actors in key ministerial roles, which includes a biopic titled PM Narendra Modi.
