Lotus on passports as aspect of safety features, other nationwide symbols to be employed on rotation: MEA

, the ministry of exterior affairs on Thursday mentioned it was section of the increased safety attributes to identify

bogus passports

and entails working with other nationwide symbols as properly on rotation.

Raising this situation of lotus being printed on new passports brought for distribution in Kozhikode in Kerala during the Zero Hour, MK Raghavan of the Congress said the subject has been highlighted by a single of the newspapers and alleged that this was “even further saffronisation” of the governing administration establishment with the lotus remaining the election image of the BJP.

Questioned about the issue, ministry of external affairs spokesperson

Raveesh Kumar

stated, “This symbol is our countrywide flower and is portion of the improved protection functions to detect fake passports.”

(ICAO) rules, he claimed.

“Apart from the Lotus, other countrywide symbols will be applied on rotation. Suitable now it is lotus and then following thirty day period there will be something else. These are symbols related with India these as countrywide flower or nationwide animal,” he explained.
