The car – part of Jordan’s extensive auto collection – was listed with a ridiculously low starting bid.
A1996 Mercedes-Benz S600previously owned by US basketball legend Michael Jordan has been listed for sale on eBay with a starting bid of justUS$23(AU$32)– a nod to the sporting icon’s famous jersey number.
At the time of publishing the auction – listed by Los Angeles-based dealer the Beverly Hills Car Club – had hit over US$160,000 in its first few hours, with bidding expected to climb far higher by the time the it closes on August 23.
Jordan’s automatic, rear-wheel-drive, V12-powered S-Class was customised by tuning house Lorinser and boasts aesthetic additions such as custom chrome rims, a Lorinser body kit, plus deep navy blue exterior paint and a grey leather interior.
The two-door coupe has outputs of 389hp (290kW) of power and 420 lb-ft (569Nm) of torque from its 6.0-litre, 12-cylinder engine.

According to the listing, the 24-year-old car features plenty of mod-cons despite its age, including air conditioning, heated seats, cruise control, dual airbags, power windows, power steering, power mirrors, power seats, power sunroof, power tilt steering wheel, power mirrors, four-wheel disc brakes and jack.
The car has 157,085 miles, or 252,803km, on the odometer, but comes with a clean vehicle history report – plus some seriously enticing memorabilia for diehard Jordan fans.
“The cool thing about the car is when you power on the car phone, Jordan’s name shows up on the dashboard,” Alex Manos, Beverly Hills Car Club owner, explains in the listing.
Additionally, the car comes with its original title, which was signed by Jordan and his then-wife, Juanita.
Although the S600 is located in the US, the listing states it can be shipped worldwide.
Jordan, whose net worth is estimated at US$2.1 billion according toForbes, was well-known for his impressive car collection, which featured heavily on the 2020 Netflix documentaryThe Last Dance.
The Chicago Bulls star was regularly photographed arriving at games in his C5 Chevrolet Corvette, Land Rover Range Rover, Ferrari 550 Maranello, Ferrari 512 Testarossa or 993-gen Porsche 911 Turbo S – amongst several others.
