Saints came into this game banged up along the defensive front, and now they’ve got another man down. That’s not great.

Saints lead 7-3 at the end of the first, but Rodgers has the Packers driving and in position to score. Pretty quick first quarter here.

Janoris Jenkins was all over that end-around. Great job setting the edge and forcing Lazard to cut back inside, where he could make the tackle.

The Packers had a nice drive going on their first possession before a timely sack on a blown protection scheme, so let’s see if they can get an answer to that very efficient Saints TD drive.

Now Kamara beats Krys Barnes and Adrian Amos on the arrow route and gets himself into the end zone. That’s a heck of a drive from Sean Payton, getting his backs into open space with relative ease. Green Bay really struggled to stop the run last season, and without Kenny Clark the Saints should be able to take advantage of that tonight.

It’s safe to say Alvin Kamara is the centerpiece of the Saints offense. Maybe that’s obvious, but there seemed to be a slight undervaluing of the running back’s stardom coming into this year, especially after 2019’s injuries. Kamara has been nothing short of tremendous with the ball in his hands this year, and it’s very clear he — not Drew Brees — is the adrenaline of New Orleans’ attack. Brees, of course, needs to be closer to his old self if the Saints want to go far, but wow, is it fun to see Kamara in action and moving this team down the field.

Similar run calls on back to back plays for the Saints, with Latavius Murray breaking through the line for a first down, then Alvin Kamara cutting back his counter run to the perimeter and hitting the jets for a big gainer into the red zone. Gorgeous run.

Almost an enormous mistake by Deonte Harris (who already came down short of the first down on New Orleans’ opening drive), but he got bailed out by J.T. Gray diving on the ball.

Demario Davis came completely free off the left side of the line after Rodgers motioned Jamaal Williams out into the slot. A rare mistake from the Packers’ protection and it resulted in a big sack.

Without Davante Adams, Tyler Ervin has been out there lined up at wide receiver on a couple snaps. Interesting look for the Packers. (Or maybe that was Darius Shepard and I read the number wrong?)

That’s a nice play by Jaire Alexander, dropping off his coverage to come up and make the tackle on Harris, who would have had the first down otherwise. A lot of teams have been running that trap coverage this year, and it’s causing some problems on those quick out passes designed to get easy first downs.

Saints getting the ball first here. Let’s see if they can put together a better offensive performance than the one we saw in Vegas.
