Observed filmmaker Shekhar Kapur was, on Tuesday, appointed president of the Pune-centered Movie and Tv Institute of India (FTII) Culture and chairman of the institute’s governing council, an formal said. FTII Director Bhupendra Kainthola explained Shekhar Kapur’s appointment was declared by the Union Ministry of Info and Broadcasting. The 74-yr-previous filmmaker’s tenure will be until March three, 2023, the formal reported. Born on December six, 1945 at Lahore in Pakistan, the critically acclaimed director and actor is recognized for films likeElizabeth(1998),Bandit Queen(1994) andThe Four Feathers(2002).
Shekhar Kapur directed the 1983 movieMasoom, starring Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi and Urmila Matondkar.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar tweeted, “Happy to advise that renowned international film temperament Shekhar Kapur has been appointed as the President of FTII Society and Chairman of Governing Council of FTII. Kapur, who has vast expertise, will incorporate a lot more worth to the institute. I am positive all people will welcome his appointment,” he included.
