Actor Sonu Sood who is usually dubbed as the “messiah of migrants” for his philanthropic get the job done in the course of coronavirus induced lockdown, has been conferred with the prestigious SDG Distinctive Humanitarian Action Award by the United Nations Progress Programme (UNDP).
The ‘Dabangg’ actor has acquired the award for selflessly extending a supporting hand and sending lakhs of migrants, stranded college students throughout geographies abroad, back again to their houses.
Apart from that, he has also been giving no cost education and learning and clinical services to youthful small children and has been developing free of charge work possibilities to the needy in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The award was introduced to the actor at a digital ceremony on Monday evening.
Expressing his joy more than the honour, the actor said he completely supports the UNDP in its endevaours.
“This is a rare honour. UN recognition is pretty particular. I have carried out whatever small I have carried out, in my possess humble way, for my fellow countrymen without the need of any expectations. Having said that, to be recognised and awarded feels great,” he claimed.
“I completely help the UNDP in its endeavours to obtain the SDGs by 2030. World Earth and mankind will enormously benefit from the implementation of these goals,” he extra.
With this prestigious honour, Sood joins the likes of Angelina Jolie, David Beckham, Leonardo DiCaprio, Emma Watson, Liam Neeson, Cate Blanchett, Antonio Banderas, Nicole Kidman and Priyanka Chopra who have been similarly honoured by diverse UN bodies. (ANI)
