The federal government of the United Kingdom apologized Saturday soon after it printed a checklist of 1,000 celebs and notables that involved some personalized data, these types of as addresses.

The New Calendar year Honours 2020 checklist, which recognizes societal achievements and contributions by bestowing extra than one,000 honorees with conditions of accomplishment, such as knighthood for some.

The 2020 checklist of recipients, unveiled Thursday, provided Sir Elton John (Companion of Honour), Olivia Newton-John (damehood) and director Sam Mendes (knighthood).

“The information and facts was eliminated as shortly as feasible,” the Cabinet Place of work reported in a statement. “We apologise to all individuals afflicted and are on the lookout into how this occurred.”

The office stated that individuals whose addresses were uncovered were being getting contacted.

The U.K. privacy team Significant Brother released on Twitter remarks of its director, Silkie Carlo. She mentioned the publicity was “inexcusable” and that federal government “will not have a fundamental grip on data security.”
